Why Exchange Links?
First, I'd like to say
something I think you'll find really
amazing. What I'm about to tell you will
probably surprise you as much as it did me.
According to a survey by Stat Market, search
engines only account for 6.86% of global referrals
while Internet Links accounted for 46.13% and
Direct Navigation and Bookmarks accounted for 47.0
percent. Direct Navigation and Bookmarks
include sites that are typed directly into the
address bar of a browser and sites that are book
marked in the browser. I think this is
totally amazing because you never hear about this.
Site promotion companies are always telling you
that search engines are the most important element
of being successful on the Internet, but it's
simply NOT true! I'm not saying that search
engines are not important but Links are almost 8
times more important than Search
Engines! In other words, WE
and YOU need link
partners!
Although the
Internet was built on its ability to link to pages
on different sites, it has always been a
contentious issue on commercial sites as to
whether to have external links on the site, since
there is always the danger that a surfer will
follow a link off of your site never to return. It
now seems that on certain very important search
engines such as Excite, Google, and to a certain
extent Alta Vista, it is impossible to attain good
rankings without having links into your site from
other sites. These links are almost impossible to
get unless you offer a reciprocal link from your
site to the other one. After all, you can always
have the linked site open in a new browser window
to curtail visitors from leaving your
site.
A Further problem is that some of the
engines are placing such importance on these links
that they are using them to determine the subject
of your site, thus if you have ten incoming links
to your site from Californian Real Estate Sites
(your family business !!), but your site is
actually trying to alert the world to the danger
of Polar Bear extinction, your site will almost
certainly be filed under Californian Real Estate
!!.
If you decide that you want to set up
some reciprocal links, it is best to look for
sites that are in the same general category as
your site, but probably not to link to your
nearest competitors.
If you don't
have a "Link" or "Favorites" page on your site,
you should seriously consider adding one and
joining a relevant link exchange group such as our
New York Link Exchange
Group. You also could do as we have done
and purchase an excellent link exchange software
program. Bottom line.... set up a "Favorite Links"
page with a contact email address and start
getting links.
* Don't rely on those so
called "Site Promotion" experts! Truth is,
about 99% of the web site promotion experts out
there use "Tricks" that actually don't work at
all! Some of these "tricks" they are using are
using doorway pages (pages designed only for
search engine appeal), cloaking web pages (using
scripts to fool the search engines), resubmitting
your pages, duplicating keywords in page headers,
etc. The search engines are well aware of
every "trick" in the book and most have teams of
people dedicated to combating this kind of abuse
and they are Very motivated at finding
cheaters. Many sites get Banned on the
search engines for trying the "tricks" and when
that happens it's almost impossible to get
un-banned. It's NOT worth
it!
We use a
software program to search the internet and locate
content related qualified sites within New York to
contact about setting up a link exchange. It
searches, manages, organizes and adds a collection
of web sites into a intelligently themed link
directory for us. From there we verify each
web site to determine if it is using or has used
any of the "Tricks" mentioned above, as linking to
one of these sites could, and no doubt would,
damage our search engine ranking. If our
program scores the site high enough, and the site
has link pages and a contact link, we will
contact the qualified site owner and let them know
that we have found their site to be of special
interest and have included it into our Link
Directory. We then ask them to link to us as well
and if they do, they are upgraded to
Premier status.

companies and others who DO NOT
provide a reciprocal link will remain on
our system but are placed directly under
our "Premier Listings".

We will keep in
contact with each of our link partners, normally
on a monthly basis, to evaluate ways to better
increase both our, and your traffic.

exchange.....no premier listing.

content, regardless of the amount of
traffic you currently have, visit our Link
Partner page and email us the information
requested. There you will also find
information about adding our site to your link
page. If your site doesn't fit into a particular
Theme we have listed, we will create one
specifically for you.

owners to directly exchange links with relevant
